They are easy succulents to care for, and they require at least 6 hours of sunlight to grow well. Chocolate soldier plants thrive indoors as houseplant, although they hardly ever bloom when grown indoors. In areas outside USDA garden zones 9 to 11, they can be placed outdoors during the summer but will need to be brought indoors once temperatures begin to drop in the fall.
